With just a
few hours before his debut at the Stockholm Open,
Adrian Mannarino suffered the
loss of his racquets and shoes at the hands of the airline.
World No.
24 Adrian Mannarino entered the Stockholm Open as the second seed and advanced
directly to the second round of the tournament with a bye. This comes as a
relief to Adrian Mannarino, who lamented that the airline lost his tennis bag
with his racquets and shoes.
The
35-year-old Frenchman competed in the Shanghai Open Masters 1000 last week but
suffered a tough defeat of 6-3, 6-0 against Andrey Rublev. The long journey
from China to Europe with Air France has left Mannarino, for the time being, in
less-than-ideal conditions for the tournament due to the absence of his
equipment.
He still
has a day to find a solution, but Mannarino seems resigned to playing without
his racquets, as he shared on social media.
Well @AirFranceFR
after 3 days i think it’s time to find my tennis bag now. Playing a tournament
without rackets and shoes is not easy ..” Mannarino wrote on X (former Twitter).
In his second-round
match, Adrian Mannarino's opponent is yet to be determined, and it will be the
winner of the match between Thiago Seyboth Wild (77th) and Roman Safiulin
(42th).
Some of the
notable players in the main draw of the tournament include the first seed
Holger Rune, the British player Dan Evans, and the American J.J. Wolf, as well
as veterans Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka.
The
Frenchman is currently enjoying a great year in 2023, nearing his best ranking,
and he has won two ATP 250 titles this year at the Newport Open and the Astana
Open. Additionally, he reached the final of the Mallorca Open, where he was
defeated by the American Christopher Eubanks (33th).
