13-year-old Carlos Alcaraz playing Les Petits As 🇨🇵 in 2017! ☺️
It has been heavily remarked in recent months about the struggles that young players who have risen in a short time encounter including Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz is the latest to open up.
Alcaraz hasn't had the same issues as Emma Raducanu in regards to injuries and the media firestorm that surrounded the Brit after winning the US Open.
The 20-year-old won the 2022 US Open and sealed his maiden Wimbledon title this past weekend and said that he missed being able to live his life like other 20-year-olds but that he is fortunate to live the dream.
"It has its good and not so good things. In some respects, I miss being able to do certain things. I miss doing some of the things that normal 20-year-olds do, but that’s short-lived. Everyone wants to live their dream and I am fortunate to be able to live it and achieve it," Alcaraz said to El Pais.
But while that is the case, he also expressed gratitude at being able to pick the brains of his compatriots of course including Rafael Nadal who he is often compared to.
"To be surrounded by great legends of Spanish sport and sport in general, from all fields. To be able to chat with them. It was something I couldn’t imagine, somehow. When they tell you they admire you, you don’t believe it, so it has its good things and its not so good things," he added.
