Carlos Alcaraz has managed to beat Jiri Lehecka in his second match of the Queen's Club Championships. The world number 2 had no complications and got rid of the Czech in two sets (6-2, 6-3) to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
In the first set, Alcaraz dominated his opponent from start to finish. The Spaniard broke Lehecka's first serve, and then confirmed it to take a 3-0 lead.
He did not lose the advantage at any time, and the number 2 in the ATP ranking held firm with his serve (88% of points won with his first serve, 14/16, to the Czech's 8/18, 44%) to go up to 5-2, keep pressing and take the first set with another break, the second of the match.
The match was clearly going Carlos Alcaraz's way, and in the early stages of the second set things would not change at all. Jiri Lehecka continued to offer a very vulnerable version of his tennis when it was his turn to serve, and Alcaraz was quick to take advantage with another 3-0 lead, just as he had done in the first set, after breaking the Czech's first serve.
Although the second set seemed to be a carbon copy of the first, after 3-1 Alcaraz had to raise three break balls in what was the longest game of the match. The Spaniard managed to make it 4-1, a very psychological break that left Lehecka very upset. At this point, Carlos Alcaraz held firm with his serve to avoid any surprises and, although at 5-2 he had a match point. He finally sealed his qualification for the quarter-finals at Queen's with his serve.
