Ugo Humbert was the source of much chatter this past week not only for his run at the recent Paris Masters but for also controversial reasons with certain incidents seeing him hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. Now Alexander Bublik has mocked that in the aftermath.
Bublik said that he was 'not so loud today' after he lost the Paris Masters final this past weekend to Alexander Zverev. Humbert was the story of the tournament in many ways as he dumped out Carlos Alcaraz and nearly became the first home champion since 2001.
But also he courted controversy in particular against K`aren Khachanov and also showed his displeasure for not being picked onto the Central Court during his early matches stirring up a big debate in itself about scheduling.
Khachanov picked up an injury on court and essentially hobbled to the finishing line to be defeated but Humbert didn't pay no notice to giving him respect and still celebrated excessively with each point.
There were some choice words while shaking hands at the net and the 2018 winner said that Humbert needed to show more respect. “I told him at the net to show more respect. He has no idea how to behave. I’m always fair play. I will congratulate him if he behaves like a normal person. That’s all I can say.
“You can be with the crowd. I have no problem with that. Did you see me celebrate yesterday? Grigor (Dimitrov) was exhausted. He wasn’t injured at the end, he told me. Did you see me jumping and screaming 'Come on! Allez!' After every point.. do you think it’s okay?
“You can celebrate after with the crowd no problem. You can do whatever you want. But while you see injuries are part of the game to do it while you see the guy is on the ground? Okay, see you next time.”
But Bublik decided in his own style to rip Humbert on a post of him looking into the mirror and getting ready for the final prior to his defeat. While the Frenchman had a career week, it also stirred the pot perhaps too much.
