Alexander Zverev lost the first match he played at the BMW Munich Open this year against O'Connell 7-6(2) 6-4. quite similarly to how he lost early in the event last year.
The Australian has been playing really solid tennis for a while and he found a really bad performance from Zverev to take him down in two sets. Zverev has been quite up and down lately though he had a really solid showing in Monte-Carlo. This match wasn't very good and looked quite similar to last year's exit from this event which was also a rather weak performance.
O'Connell had an early lead but he gave back to Zverev who was able to drag himself to a tiebreak. In the tiebreak, O'Connell outplayed Zverev to take the set 7-2. The second set featured Zverev once again struggling to find a good rhythm as he lost his serve fairly early in that set as well. He would break back and make it 4-4 but then he lost his serve once more and this time it was the final time as the Australian finished things off 6-4.

While at the same time reminding herself (Conchita, that is) that Mirra is still young and developing mentally and physically. The general public may forget at times, or not at all realize, these modern era young athletes do not have a 'normal' Youth.
