The All-American Team Cup brings us 4 great matches daily divided between a noon session and an evening session.
The
All-American Team Cup will go ahead despite some concerns whether it should. The 3-day event will feature some of the biggest American tennis names. The 8 players are divided into two teams with the stakes getting higher after each day as we know the full schedule of play.
The points for victory increase with every day so a victory on day 1 will mean 1 point, day 2 - two points, and day 3 - three points. The matches will be played in a best 2 out of 3 format with the final set being a 10-point tiebreaker. The 4 daily matches are divided into two sessions with the first one beginning at noon local time and the 2nd one beginning at 6 pm local time. The event is being held in Atlanta.
Day One
The noon session on day one of the All-American Team Cup kicks off with a match between veteran
Sam Querrey and youngster
Frances Tiafoe. While it will be a clash of generations it certainly won't be a clash of styles with both playing stereotypical American tennis with strong baseline shots. The 2nd match on the schedule will be between
Tennys Sandgren and
Tommy Paul.
The evening session brings us a match between event headliner
John Isner and
Taylor Fritz. Once again a clash of generations and a bit of clash of styles with Isner being clearly the better server. The 2nd match will be between
Steve Johnson and
Reilly Opelka.
Day Two
We'll see the same line-up during the day and evening sessions also on day two. However, the players will swap their opponents. Christopher Eubanks, who replaced
Frances Tiafoe will be the first player to step on the court from Team Stars and he will be facing
Tennys Sandgren. In the second match,
Sam Querrey will take on
Tommy Paul, who will play the second match of the day session.
The night session of the All-American Team Cup will be kicked-off by John Isner and
Reilly Opelka. Fans can expect to see a lot of aces in this match as both players are much higher than 2 meters. In the last match of the day,
Steve Johnson will face
Taylor Fritz as they will fight for the last two points for their teams.
Day Three
On day three, players will be able to earn three points for their teams. We also won't see a day and night session as players will start at 12 p.m. ET and will play the next match after the previous ends. Sam Querrey and Reilly Opelka will be the first two players that will attempt to get 3 points for their team.
After that, we were supposed to see the battle of captains when John Isner should have met Frances Tiafoe. However, the captain of Team Stars needed to be replaced by Christopher Eubanks due to testing positive for the Coronavirus. The third match of the day will see Tennys Sandgren and Taylor Fritz still hopefully playing for some meaningful points. Steve Johnson and Tommy Paul will play the last match of the tournament.
