Juan Carlos Ferrero watches on.
Juan Carlos Ferrero has once again been forced to respond to false rumours about his health after new speculation spread on social media in recent days. The former World No. 1 issued a clear statement, rejecting claims that he is suffering from cancer and describing them as “totally false.”
Ferrero had already addressed similar rumours back in October, but the issue has resurfaced, prompting another response. The Spaniard made clear his frustration that the same misinformation continues to circulate months later, despite having already been publicly denied.
The renewed claims gained traction online over the past few days, leading Ferrero to step in publicly once again. His message was direct and left no room for interpretation, underlining both the inaccuracy of the reports and the need to bring clarity to the situation.
However, Ferrero is no longer part of Carlos Alcaraz’s team, with the two parting ways towards the end of 2025, closing a highly successful period on the tour. His latest statement, therefore, comes away from the week-to-week demands of coaching on the ATP circuit.

Ferrero focuses on academy work as he denies false cancer rumours

The Spanish coach has focused his energy in recent months on the Juan Carlos Ferrero Academy in Spain, and has given several interviews referring to his separation from Alcaraz after having accompanied him since his junior stage.
The former World No. 1 this time shared a statement on social media, addressing the situation regarding his supposed cancer, making clear there is no truth to the claims. His response combined a firm denial with a broader point about the impact of misinformation, particularly when it involves sensitive topics.
“During the last few days, completely false news about my health has been circulating, claiming that I have cancer. I want to make it clear that this is totally false,” he stated. “Beyond denying it, it hurts me deeply that such sensitive topics are used to generate attention or views. Cancer is a disease that has affected my family and many others, and it deserves the utmost respect.”
“I appreciate the messages of support and affection, but above all I ask for responsibility from those who spread this type of information without verifying its truth.”

His remarks reflect a growing concern among players and coaches regarding the speed at which unverified information can spread, particularly through social media platforms. In this case, the topic itself added an additional layer of sensitivity, something Ferrero made clear in his statement.
The former Roland Garros champion did not elaborate further beyond the message, choosing instead to let his words stand on their own. The clarity of the statement, however, was sufficient to address the speculation that had once again begun circulating online.

Ferrero no longer part of Alcaraz’s team

Ferrero’s situation on the tour has already changed in recent months following his split from Alcaraz’s team at the end of 2025. The separation marked the end of one of the most successful coaching partnerships in recent ATP history, after several seasons working closely together.
Since then, Carlos Alcaraz has continued into 2026 under a different structure, making a strong start to the season that includes his Australian Open title and a 17–1 record. The transition has not affected his results, with the Spaniard maintaining his position among the leading players on the tour.
For Ferrero, meanwhile, the focus of his latest public appearance was not related to tennis performance. Instead, it centred on correcting misinformation that continues to reappear despite previous denials. His statement serves as a reminder of the personal impact such claims can carry, particularly when amplified without verification.
