Nick Kyrgios once again slams Jannik Sinner over the doping controversy, casting doubt on the official version of a physiotherapist's error that allegedly caused the Clostebol contamination in the Italian. The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up was on a recent podcast where he again criticized the world No. 1.
The former world No. 13 has been the most critical voice in the tennis world regarding Sinner's case and has not held back from slamming him whenever he has had a chance, constantly causing a stir on social media with his statements against Sinner.
Sinner avoided a suspension after the ITIA investigation, which ruled that the contamination was a millionth part of Clostebol and would not have had any impact on his performance. After the World Anti-Doping Agency announced an appeal seeking a suspension of 'between one and two years,' the Italian reached an agreement with the organization, accepting a three-month suspension and bringing the case to an end.
The Australian again questioned whether Sinner's contamination was indeed a physiotherapist's error. "He's the number one in the world. Do you really believe he's going to hire a physiotherapist who carries a scalpel without a cover in his bag, accidentally cuts himself with it, and then gives him a massage without protection?"
"He pays hundreds of thousands of dollars to that person and puts all his trust in him. Tennis players like Sinner are super strict with everything and very professional, they don't even take a sip of alcohol, they take maximum care of themselves. Am I supposed to believe he knew nothing about the physio's situation? Come on," he said.
Recently, Sinner returned to the court at the Rome Open at a very high level and reached the final, where he faces Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian can put aside concerns about a longer suspension, but Kyrgios is not willing to stop his criticism of the three-time Grand Slam champion.
