While
Roger Federer aside from Laver Cup has shown minimal hunger to return to the sport and has been enjoying his life, a reunion with
Rafael Nadal certainly could be on the cards.
His long-time agent Tony Godsick has said that both like collaborating so while it depends on Nadal, it isn't something that can be ruled out. Speaking during the Laver Cup this week in Marca, he referenced that they have priorly played exhibitions together and that it could happen again.
What comes to mind is the half and half exhibition on two different surfaces. It also opens doors for big three opportunities. In particular with Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic has faced Grigor Dimitrov recently and will also take on Juan Martin del Potro in Argentina. So when all three retire, the market certainly is there for the trio to reunite. But at least with Federer and Nadal, it could be on the cards.
“Since Roger retired he hasn’t wanted to play another match as long as he doesn’t feel physically well," said Godsick to Marca.
“To my mind comes the record of spectators that they beat in South Africa. We like to do big things. If there is an option to beat that one day, I’m sure Roger will consider it.
“They both like to collaborate and I like working with Carlos Costa [Nadal’s agent]. I have very good memories. We did the half-grass, half-earth exhibition in Mallorca…. Anything is possible in the future.”
