In the rematch of last year's Wimbledon semis, Carlos Alcaraz won again against Daniil Medvedev. This time he did not do it so comfortably. He had to come back from a set down but closed the match in four sets with a result of 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4.

In the final awaits the winner of the match between Novak Djokovic, in what would also be a repeat of 2023, and Lorenzo Musetti, the surprise of the tournament.

FIRST SET

Medvedev started off with the serve and Carlitos put him in difficulties from the first game, getting a break point in his favour. However, the Russian saved it and began to improve exponentially, until he was 3-1 up on the scoreboard, being the first to break his opponent's serve. But Alcaraz was not going to give up and returned the break immediately.

As if it were a give and take, Medvedev regained the lead at the time. He got to 5-2 but when he served to win the set, the Spaniard cut the gap, with a point that provoked the fury of the world number 5, who said something to the chair umpire and was very close to being disqualified, finally taking a simple warning.

Again, everything was very even and so they reached the tie-break. A sudden death where Medvedev went completely over Alcaraz, devastating him at all times and ending with a resounding 7-1 to take the first set in his favour.

SECOND SET

Carlitos was not going to give up, and just like in the quarterfinals against Tommy Paul, he reacted immediately. After two games of tentative play, the Spaniard broke Medvedev's serve and from that point on, he played his best tennis of the match. Until 5-3 he had no problems, but it was at that moment, when he served to put equality on the scoreboard that he began to falter a little.

But he did not let himself be destabilized and ended up taking the set with his serve and recovering the deficit on the scoreboard, showing that he was not going to let the match slip away just like that and that he still had something to say in this semifinal.

THIRD SET

The third set had a very similar development to the second. Two first games where they were measuring each other and Carlitos broke Medvedev's serve in the first real opportunity he had. After that, they were exchanging games but not with the ease of the second set. Both had the option to put the other in trouble with the serve.

The closest one was Alcaraz, at 4-2 he had the chance to do it to leave an important mark and a dent in his opponent, but the 2021 US Open champion managed to solve it. They went to 5-4, where the three-time Grand Slam winner served impeccably and won the third set, which put him for the first time with the score in his favour.

FOURTH SET

The fourth set also started in the same way as the previous two, with an early break by Carlos, in this case in the first game of the set. Perhaps it was too early, as it gave Medvedev time to respond and catch up. But the Spaniard let the storm pass and returned to take the lead on the scoreboard, 4-3 and serve.

Not only Alcaraz held his serve without problems, but he was also on the verge of being able to close the match with the rest. He got to 0-30 on the scoreboard but Medvedev saved himself by winning the next four points in a row. However, with his own serve the Spaniard gave no options to the Russian and ended up winning to qualify for his fourth Grand Slam final.
