Former Roger Federer coach Arnaud Clement has identified a key area for improvement in Carlos Alcaraz’s game, suggesting that legends like Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal could guide him in overcoming this challenge.
The 21-year-old Spaniard, already a four-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1, has achieved remarkable success under the mentorship of Juan Carlos Ferrero.
However, Clement believes Alcaraz’s decision-making on court could be further refined. "Alcaraz knows how to do everything; his problem is knowing what to do at what time. Nadal and Federer could obviously help him in this regard," Clement said.
He pointed out that Alcaraz sometimes lacks precision during matches, particularly when fatigue sets in, and advised focusing on better tournament scheduling. "It depends on what he wants: to go for the greatest number of Grand Slam victories? He’s off to a good start, but it’s a long-term goal," Clement added.

Federer’s coaching potential for Tsitsipas

Clement also commented on Stefanos Tsitsipas, suggesting Roger Federer could be the perfect coach to improve the Greek player's one-handed backhand, a known weakness in his game. "Federer had one of the best one-handed backhands in the history of the game, and Tsitsipas has one of the worst," Clement asserted.
“What stands out to me is how little progress there is in this area for the Greek. This is the most important area in which he can progress in tennis, both in the exchange and in return,” Clement added. “All this work on varying the one-handed backhand is fundamental. Tsitsipas is blocked from this point of view at the moment.”
Clement emphasised the need for Tsitsipas to work on variety and consistency in his backhand to elevate his overall game. "This is the most important area in which he can progress in tennis, both in the exchange and in return. All this work on varying the one-handed backhand is fundamental. Tsitsipas is blocked from this point of view at the moment," he concluded.
