Rafael Nadal continues to impress the tennis world once again at the Madrid Open 2024. The Spaniard has once again shown us why he should never be left for dead, and even less so on clay. In a battle of just over three hours on the Manolo Santana court at the Caja Mágica, the Spaniard defeated Pedro Cachín 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-3.

After the match, the 37-year-old player spoke to the ATP Tour microphones to talk about his feelings after the match. The first question was directed towards how he felt tennis-wise during the day:

"In some moments well, in others not so well, but I found a way through. I think in the third set, despite making some mistakes, I was able to show a little more unpredictability and that's probably what changed the match."

This victory gives him a new opportunity to play in the Caja Mágica and continue dreaming of achieving something big during this tournament and in his (perhaps) last year on the circuit as a professional:

"Right now I'm enjoying myself. Let's see how I wake up tomorrow, I don't know, day by day. Playing at home means everything to me. Just giving my best to keep dreaming. Tomorrow is a new day to keep dreaming playing in front of this spectacular crowd, and that's all for me."

Finally, as always, he answered one last question in Spanish, leaving us some words that make all his fans and tennis fans dream:

"Yes, a difficult match. I think there were different moments during the match. The first set more or less comfortable and, from there I think he has improved his level and I have become a little predictable. I wasn't doing any damage with my strokes and well, then in the third set I think I came back to damage the opponent a little more, which is the only way I think. And well, try to continue on this path because having the opportunity to play again tomorrow means a lot and I know I need to give more."
