Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev all secured victories on quarter-final day at the BNP Paribas Open in
Indian Wells, completing the semi-final lineup at the ATP Masters 1000 event. The four leading contenders in the draw advanced with straight-sets wins, although the difficulty varied, particularly in Medvedev’s tighter encounter against defending champion Jack Draper.
The results ensure a strong presence of the ATP Tour’s top players in the final stages of Indian Wells 2026. World No. 1 Alcaraz continues his bid for a third title in the Californian desert, while World No. 2 Sinner extended his consistent run at the tournament. Zverev secured his place in the semi-finals earlier in the day, and Medvedev reached the Indian Wells semi-finals for the fourth consecutive year.
Alexander Zverev def. Arthur Fils 6–2, 6–3
Alexander Zverev became the first player to secure a semi-final berth after defeating Arthur Fils 6–2, 6–3 in a controlled performance that lasted just over an hour. The German established early authority by breaking twice in the opening set and quickly dictating the tempo from the baseline.
Fils had opportunities to stay closer in the opening stretch, repeatedly reaching 40–30 or advantage in his service games. However, Zverev proved more efficient in the decisive moments, converting early break chances and maintaining consistency on serve. The German won 74% of points behind his first serve and did not face a break point during the match.
After taking the opening set, Zverev continued to apply pressure in the second. Fils briefly led 2–1, but a break for 3–2 shifted momentum firmly back toward the German. From there, Zverev held comfortably and closed out the match without difficulty.
Statistically, the match reflected Zverev’s control on serve and return. Both players struck seven aces, but the German’s higher first-serve efficiency and stronger return numbers proved decisive. He won 41% of points on Fils’ first serve compared with the Frenchman’s 26% on Zverev’s delivery.
The victory moves him into the Indian Wells semi-finals, where he will face Jannik Sinner. Zverev also became just the fifth player in the Open Era to reach at least the semi-finals at all nine ATP Masters 1000 events, joining an exclusive group in the process: Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray.

Jannik Sinner def. Learner Tien 6–1, 6–2
Jannik Sinner followed with a dominant performance against American teenager Learner Tien, advancing with a 6–1, 6–2 victory. The World No. 2 controlled the match from the opening games, quickly establishing an advantage through aggressive returning and efficient serving.
Sinner broke early in the opening set and never allowed Tien to build sustained momentum. The Italian won 81% of points behind his first serve and did not concede a break of serve during the match, maintaining pressure throughout the baseline exchanges.
Tien struggled to contain Sinner’s depth and pace, particularly on second serve. The Italian won more than half of return points against Tien’s first delivery and consistently forced errors during extended rallies.
In the second set, Sinner secured another early break and soon extended the lead to a double break at 4–1. The match moved rapidly toward its conclusion as the Italian won 15 of 16 points during one stretch to consolidate control.
Tien briefly halted the momentum by holding serve late in the set, but Sinner closed out the match shortly afterwards despite facing two break points while serving for victory. He responded with strong first serves and converted his first match point.
The win sets up a semi-final clash between the World No. 2 and Zverev, continuing their recent series of high-level meetings on tour.

Daniil Medvedev def. Jack Draper 6–1, 7–5
Daniil Medvedev advanced to the semi-finals after defeating defending champion Jack Draper 6–1, 7–5 in a match that featured a controversial moment late in the second set. The Russian dominated the opening stages but faced a more competitive contest as Draper raised his level.
Medvedev controlled the first set from the outset, breaking twice and securing the opener in just 24 minutes. The Russian won 76% of his service points and struck 11 winners while allowing Draper only three during the set.
The second set proved far more balanced. Draper improved his serving efficiency and held consistently despite landing only around half of his first serves. Both players protected their service games through much of the set as the match moved toward its closing stages.
The decisive moment arrived at 5–5. During a tense rally, Draper raised his arms immediately after striking a shot, prompting a hindrance discussion with the chair umpire after the point. The ruling ultimately went in Medvedev’s favour, and the Russian capitalised shortly afterward to break serve.
Medvedev then served out the match to reach the Indian Wells semi-finals for the fourth consecutive year. The victory keeps him in strong position to return to the ATP top ten depending on the outcome of the tournament. He will now face Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals.

Carlos Alcaraz def. Cameron Norrie 6–3, 6–4
Carlos Alcaraz completed the semi-final lineup with a 6–3, 6–4 victory over Cameron Norrie on Centre Court. The Spaniard overcame an early setback in the second set before regaining control through aggressive returning and consistent serving.
Alcaraz secured the first break of the match midway through the opening set, though he briefly surrendered the advantage when Norrie broke back with a love game. The World No. 1 quickly responded, creating another opportunity and closing out the set after raising his level in the final games.
The second set began with Norrie applying early pressure. The Brit secured a break to lead 2–0, highlighted by a long rally that ended with a well-timed passing shot after chasing down a drop shot from Alcaraz.
However, the Spaniard responded decisively. Alcaraz recovered the break and soon established a double-break advantage after capitalising on a difficult service game from Norrie. From there he managed the match effectively, maintaining control of the rallies and holding serve to move ahead.
Statistically, Alcaraz produced 27 winners and won 72% of points behind his first serve. Despite committing 26 unforced errors, he consistently generated pressure on Norrie’s second serve and controlled the key moments late in both sets. With the victory, Alcaraz advances to face Medvedev in a rematch of the 2023 and 2024 finals, both victories for Alcaraz.
