ATP Race Update | Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev boost Turin hopes with title-winning week

The ATP Tour entered a transitional week following the conclusion of Wimbledon, with a handful of European clay-court events taking center stage. Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas emerged as the biggest winners after capturing the titles at the Bastad Open and Swiss Open Gstaad, respectively, making the most significant gains in the ATP Race to Turin.
While the Tour's biggest stars prepare for the North American hard-court swing, Europe's final stretch of clay-court tournaments has offered specialists one last opportunity to collect valuable ranking points and build confidence ahead of the final months of the season.
It is worth remembering that the ATP Race only counts points earned during the 2026 calendar year, starting from the opening week of the season. It will determine both the year-end ATP Rankings and the eight players who qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin.
For now, there have been no major changes at the top of the Race. Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev have already secured their places at the ATP Finals, while Carlos Alcaraz is also virtually guaranteed qualification thanks to his Australian Open title earlier this season. Despite missing several months through injury, the Spaniard remains comfortably in third place.

Sinner, Zverev and Alcaraz remain firmly in control
The top three positions remain unchanged, with Sinner, Zverev and Alcaraz continuing to separate themselves from the rest of the field.
The three Grand Slam champions of 2026 lead the Race with one major still to play at the US Open. Sinner (7,950) holds a commanding advantage over Zverev (6,540), while Alcaraz (3,650) sits comfortably in third. Although the Spaniard is expected to return in the coming weeks, it appears virtually impossible for him to erase the gap to the top two before the end of the season.

Behind them, however, the battle becomes much tighter. Flavio Cobolli occupies fourth place (3,020) after standout Grand Slam performances, reaching the Roland Garros final before advancing to the Wimbledon quarterfinals. The Italian enjoys a cushion of roughly 500 points over Daniil Medvedev, whose consistency has lifted him back into the top five.
The Russian is chasing a return to the ATP Finals after missing out in 2025, which ended a streak of six consecutive appearances. His solid campaign has put him on course for a seventh career appearance in Turin.
Djokovic remains in qualifying position despite limited schedule
The Race becomes increasingly congested in the next positions, particularly with Novak Djokovic currently sitting sixth.
The Serbian would qualify for the ATP Finals if the season ended today, although it would not be surprising if he chose to skip the event given that his schedule is now almost entirely focused on Grand Slam tournaments.
The 24-time major champion reached the Australian Open final and the Wimbledon semifinals despite playing just five tournaments throughout the season, proving those deep runs alone have been enough to keep him among the year's top performers.
Djokovic has only played 5 tournaments so far this season, but he remains in sixth place in the ATP rankings.
The race for the final Turin spots is wide open
The closest battle is for the final qualifying positions. At the moment, Felix Auger-Aliassime (2,190) and Alex de Minaur (2,070) occupy the final two qualifying places after both reached the semifinals at last year's ATP Finals. However, they will need strong results throughout the North American hard-court swing to stay ahead of a chasing pack.
Ben Shelton (2,030), Arthur Fils (1,940), Tommy Paul (1,935) and Jakub Mensik (1,905) remain firmly in contention. The Czech youngster, currently 12th in the Race, trails eighth place by fewer than 200 points. A deep run at the US Open or one of the upcoming Masters 1000 events could ultimately decide who qualifies for Turin and who finishes the season inside the year-end Top 10.
Tsitsipas and Rublev headline the week's biggest movers
Stefanos Tsitsipas produced the biggest jump of the week after lifting the Gstaad title, climbing from No. 57 to No. 37 in the ATP Race. The 27-year-old finally ended a 16-month title drought and could be on the verge of a resurgence after rediscovering confidence. His victory over Raphael Collignon in the final also boosted the Belgian from No. 42 to No. 33, putting him on track to become a regular seed at Masters 1000 events and Grand Slams in the near future.
Rublev also returned to the winner's circle by capturing the Bastad title. The Russian climbed four places to No. 17 in the Race, significantly improving his chances of returning to the Top 10 after spending several seasons among the Tour's elite. He defeated Luciano Darderi in the final, with the Italian now sitting 19th in the Race as the third-highest ranked Italian behind Sinner and Cobolli.
Another notable performer was Dani Mérida, who claimed the Umag title to surge from No. 65 to No. 44. The 21-year-old continues to establish himself among Spain's exciting new generation alongside Carlos Alcaraz, Martín Landaluce and Rafael Jódar, a group widely expected to play a leading role on the ATP Tour over the next decade.
