ATP Rankings Update: Jannik Sinner remains top as Alexander Bublik and Lorenzo Musetti lose ground ahead of Asian swing

With Davis Cup action predominantly taking up last week's action, there has been little to no movement in the ATP rankings. That does not mean there are still some stories to take from it with a crucial time period coming up as the 2026 season draws closer to the end.

There were some ranking points that had been taken off some of the players. Alexander Bublik continues to fall away from the top 10. He won a number of ATP 250 tournaments last year, the one in question for this drop being the Hangzhou Open. He drops outside of the top 20 into 21st.

He can earn these points back with some deep runs in the upcoming tournaments. Similar to Bublik, Lorenzo Musetti is also swiftly falling away from the elite as his torrid 2026 continues with injuries the catalyst to his plummet. He can now be found in 24th after also falling outside of the top 20 and has work to do to get himself back in there.

Alejandro Tabilo remains a top 32 player, but only just. Corentin Moutet continues to slide. The flamboyant Frenchman is not in the best of form, and an 11-place drop to 70th in the world showcases his woes. On the other hand, a number of players benefit from this and move up a place or two. Arthur Gea and Jaime Faris sit at new career highs of 61st and 68th, respectively.

Vit Koprova loses six places and is now in 71st. The British No.3 Jan Choinski was moving up the order but has since taken a step back with some points swiped off his tally. He can now be found in 89th after a 15-position drop. A huge ranking drop for Valentin Royer means he is officially out of the top 100.

While a number of the top names will be competing at the Laver Cup, there will still be some ATP action in China, specifically at the Chengdu Open and Hangzhou Open. The latter will see Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev desperately seek some kind of form, with the Russian pair only settling for ATP 250 glory.

In Chengdu, Tabilo returns as the reigning champion after stunning Musetti last year. The likes of Valentin Vacherot, who has an important few weeks coming up, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Hubert Hurkacz and Denis Shapovalov are also looking to capitalise on the return of ATP action.

As for next week, it goes up a notch. ATP 500 tournaments in Beijing and Tokyo mark the return of the elite since the US Open on the ATP Tour. Before that occurs, there could be some significant changes. For example, Taylor Fritz will drop out of the top 10 with his final run from last year on the line. That means Arthur Fils is bracing himself to debut in the top 10 for the first time. However, his stay is short because he is not competing until Shanghai.

Casper Ruud could soon be out of the top 20, with Arthur Rinderknech also defending big at Shanghai, like his cousin, and may not even be in the top 32 for the tournament. Further down the list, Holger Rune will finally return to action at the Japan Open. Currently ranked 142nd in the world, he will go to the Japanese capital ranked around the 180 mark following a lengthy absence.

There will be no change at the top of the rankings for the time being. The lead may be shortened, but Jannik Sinner is still comfortably ahead of Alexander Zverev. Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton still remain in a sturdy third and fourth, with Felix Auger-Aliassime under threat from Medvedev if the Russian is going to go deep in China.
