The lengthy collaboration between tennis star
Holger Rune and longtime coach Lars Christensen has come to an end, as the Danish player begins a new journey with former World No.1
Boris Becker in his coaching box.
Christensen was appointed as Rune's permanent coach in September, following the former World No.4's breakup with coach Patrick Mouratoglou. However, Rune's mother and manager, Aneke Rune, announced Christensen would no longer be working with the team.
Becker's addition signaled the end of Christensen's collaboration
After Becker joined Rune's coaching camp in Basel a few weeks ago, Christensen was noticeably absent from the Dane's box. Aneke Rune revealed it was Christensen's decision, saying the Danish coach did not wish to be part of a bigger team.
This was evident when Christensen was also absent from Rune's camp during events in Stockholm,
Paris Masters and presumable the
ATP Finals in Turin. With the Danish coach no longer present, it is safe to assume that Becker could be Rune's coach heading into the 2024 season and beyond.
