Marton Fucsovics lost out in straight sets on Wednesday to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon Quarter-Finals but one aspect of the coverage that was heavily discussed was aimed at Boris Becker.
Becker was embroiled in a sexism row after making comments about Fucsovics' fiancee, Anett Boszormenyi.
John Inverdale who was commentating with him made a pun about him being in a relationship with a girl called Anett before Becker chimed in saying: "They do say they have the most beautiful women in Hungary. I wouldn't know that, but she's certainly very pretty."
This comment sparked anger among many on social media with the BBC commenting in a statement to the i Paper saying "Boris Becker made a light-hearted comment that was not intended to cause offence."
Chief executive of Women in Sport, Stephanie Hillborne slammed the comments saying: “The charity Women in Sport has worked for decades to change sporting culture, including to end the objectification of women. When two men are comfortable talking about women in this way, never mind on live TV, it shows there is still more to do.”
