Nick Kyrgios confirmed his absence from the Tokyo Olympic Games as he will play the Atlanta 250 event instead.
Nick Kyrgios made his return to tennis at Wimbledon and the Australian did fairly well before an abdominal injury forced him to retire from his 3rd round match. A few days later Kyrgios posted his rehabilitation schedule from an abdominal strain type I.
The rehab process will be done at his base in the Bahamas and while Kyrgios was announced as part of the Australian tennis Olympics team at Wimbledon, he was also listed as part of the field at Truist Atlanta Open which will take place at the same time.
Asked about the Olympics at Wimbledon, Nick said:
“If I’m to play the Olympics, I want to do it the right way. I want to do it with full crowds, with my guests there. I want to do it when I’m able to watch other athletes do their thing. That’s the Olympics for me. The Olympics, the way it’s going to go on, is not the Olympics.”
Well, Kyrgios made up his mind when he shared a post by the Atlanta Open on Instagram list night which confirmed Kyrgios to participate at the event.
