Berrettini completes the day full of surprises at the Shanghai Masters with victory over Thiem

On the 6th day of play in China, it all started with Medvedev's victory over Fognini. The first match was expected to end the way it did and so the seat for the US Open finalist in the semifinals at the Shanghai Masters was no surprise. However, after that, Novak Djokovic lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas. And later it was Alexander Zverev who managed to defeat Roger Federer.

Matteo Berrettini faced Dominic Thiem in the quarterfinals. The Italian allowed Thiem to have one break point opportunity in the first set, but he turned it away and managed to win the first set in tie-break 10-8.

In the 2nd set, it was Berrettini who had breakpoints first. He managed to use his third, to get into the lead in the 2nd set. Later he avoided two Thiem's break points in the 10th game and used his 3rd match point to advance into the semifinals.
