Daniil Medvedev booked his place in the third round of the 2024
Indian Wells Open, but was left side stepped in his quest against Roberto Carballes Baena by a bright light shining in his eyes which flickered and set him off course.
As ever with medvedev, it wasn't without controversy as the match was briefly stopped. He moved a set and a break up ahead of closing out a routine victory.
However his Spanish opponent broke back in the second set before Medvedev's evening took a bizarre turn. A light began flickering above the court at Indian Wells. The 28-year-old complained that it was hindering his ability to return and forced the umpire to delay the match.
Both players left the court as the problem was fixed with the DJ playing the song Blinding Lights by The Weeknd as he saw the funny side. Medvedev though was helped by it as it threw Carballes Baena off his momentum and the Russian was able to move through. But one certainly not to be forgot in his route through for Medvedev.
