Brandon Nakashima proved better than Jiri Lehecka for the second time at the
Next Gen ATP Finals with this one coming in the finals.
The American actually opened the event with a loss but won every single match since then. He defeated Lehecka in straight sets in the round-robin stage and did so again here despite starting slower than the Czech player.
Nakashima broke Lehecka when he was serving for the first set at 3-2 and it came after Jiri jumped out to a 30-0 lead. He used that momentum to outplay the Czech player in the tiebreak. A tiebreak was how Nakashima won the second set as well but it was far more competitive.
Lehecka was the more aggressive player but it came with a cost and it was far more errors in crucial situations. He did have some spectacular winners as well but it was not enough against Nakashima whose experience proved too much for the young Czech player.
