Former champion
Cameron Norrie is once again playing super solid tennis in
Indian Wells proving it with another solid win 6-2 6-4 over
Andrey Rublev.
It was a solid battle between the players but the match wasn't really close. Norrie played some unserious rallies late in the match to make the score more bearable for Rublev but he was never close to turning this match around or even dominating it. Norrie completely took apart his game absorbing pressure really well from Rublev's forehands.
The Russian sent many balls onto Norrie's backhand but it remained stable for much of the match sending balls very deep into the court catching Rublev off guard. The Russian simply never found a really good rhythm with his forehand or backhand as Norrie was well prepared and knew exactly what to do.
Had this been played on a faster court, Rublev would have probably had more chances but today wasn't good enough from the Russian. Fair stats overall but simply not good enough in the key moments.
