Carlos Alcaraz 'doesn't need too much advice' but Rafael Nadal 'ready anytime' if needed

Rafael Nadal has given his verdict that he would be there anytime that Carlos Alcaraz needs advice but very much that he doesn't need it in his view after a terrific win for Alcaraz over his compatriot.

Alcaraz sealed it 6-3, 6-3 and Nadal was full of praise for the 21-year-old. He said that in his view he played well but that he wasn't a match for an 'animal' like Alcaraz. His comments show a real admiration for him and that he is in great hands when it comes to who is currently supporting him.

Albeit of course he is on the other end of the phone if he is ever needed. In his view though it won't be needed.

"It’s been a pleasure," Nadal told DAZN. "Carlos was too good. He’s been playing fantastic the last few years, better and better.

"I think it was a good performance [from myself], but it wasn’t even enough to play against an animal like him.

"I think he doesn’t need much advice now. He’s showing everyone that he has a great team next to him and a great family.

"So I think he’s going to be going very well with what he has. He’s learning all the time and we can see that he’s evolving in every single way. But of course, I will be ready anytime he wants to call me."

He also spoke about the first time he saw Alcaraz and how he has evolved until now from back in Australia in 2021. "[I heard] he’s winning, he’s special," recalled Nadal. "People were telling me that somebody very good is coming now.

"But of course, I didn’t have the chance to watch him play until I was practicing with him in Australia in 2021.

"And even if he was very young, you saw things that you don’t see in the others. You can see now."
