US Open behind him, Carlos Alcaraz focuses on Davis Cup mission with revenge in mind

Carlos Alcaraz is already in Valencia to play the group stage of the Davis Cup 2024. Spain has a very complicated task in the Fuente de San Luis Pavilion.
This Wednesday, September 11 will debut against the Czech Republic of Jiri Lehecka, Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik. On Friday 13th they will play against the always tough France. And on Sunday, September 15, they will have the mission of facing Australia, last year's finalist before losing to Jannik Sinner's Italy.
He arrives after a North American tour on hard court where he could hardly have done worse. He lost to Gael Monfils in his debut at the Cincinnati Open (6-4, 6-7(5), 4-6) in a match that was stopped a couple of times due to rain. And he could not get past the second round at the US Open, where he was beaten by Botic van de Zandschulp in three sets by 6-1, 7-5, 6-4.
"Right now, the truth is that I'm doing quite well. Obviously, after the defeat in New York, well, there were a couple of days like that, bad, but it was clear that we had to be back to the courts and training as soon as possible and the truth is that I've been training for several days and with a pretty big motivation," said the world number 3.

This 'article' may be informative for newbies or fair-weather tennis observers but the majority of fans know the root of the multiple issues within WTA. The #1 issue being the subject of health & well-being which has been (or has attempted to be) addressed with the WTA Elitist council members last season. WTA was extremely dismissive of players' concerns and opposed to such a meeting. Eventually giving-in due to publicity and allowed selective players only -- no rep's, no medical personnel, and no team members. The meeting was a farce as WTA soon after that released an even more hectic schedule... with mandatory tourneys! Guess they weren't taking notes?? BTW: There is a lot missing from this piece concerning "withdrawals". No writer has yet taken the jump to get behind the scenes and dig at the problems -- obvious organizational problems. IMO, the top two issues are WTA's lack of proper attention to health & well-being of its Money-Makers; and Financial Greed. Tip to Mr. Lloyd: there is no "snubbing" when these players withdraw. These women have to take such measures as withdrawing from a tourney, and occasional time-off from the circuit, to protect themselves -- because WTA refuses to take any measures at all (although not allowing matches until sunrise is a start). Surely you can do better than point fingers at players. The finger-pointing should be directed entirely at WTA (and ATP). Be a true journalist, Mr. Lloyd, and research them!!mandoist16-09-2024
