Although he is going through a complicated moment after his surprising elimination in the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters 2024, Carlos Alcaraz has once again shown his enormous humility and has dedicated some precious words to Rafael Nadal after he announced his professional retirement.
Alcaraz has fallen against Tomas Machac by 6-7, 5-7, and has been left out of a semi-final of the Shanghai ATP 1000 where he would have played against Jannik Sinner. Despite the hard blow, through his social networks he has published a message as a tribute to Nadal:
"From the boy who watched you on television and dreamed of becoming a tennis player to who had the immense gift of playing by your side in Roland Garros representing Spain in an Olympic Games! Thank you so much for being an example on every level, your legacy is unrepeatable. I enjoyed you very much and I will miss you a lot when you leave after the Davis, Rafa", reads the message from Carlitos Alcaraz.
The last dance that Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will have together will be played from Tuesday, November 19 to Sunday, November 24 in Malaga. The two tennis stars will lead the Spanish team in search of winning a Davis Cup that this country has not lifted since 2019 when it beat Canada in Madrid's Caja Mágica.
The 2024 Davis Cup Finals will be hosted for the third consecutive time at the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena. In 2022, when it was held there for the first time, the victory was won by Canada against an Australia that would repeat runner-up in 2023 after losing against Jannik Sinner's Italy.
There is much confidence that this year Spain can once again achieve glory in this prestigious competition. What better way for Nadal to end his legendary career.
