Pablo Carreno-Busta and Denis Shapovalov advanced to the next round of the US Open after victories against Berankis and Fritz.

Pablo Carreno-Busta is having his best US Open to date and his great run continued today with him beating Berankis and reaching the 4th round of the US Open. The 1st set was the toughest for the Spaniard who required 44 minutes to break down the defence of Berankis. He managed to do so late in the set and win it with 6-4. The next set was a bit easier for Pablo who had an early 3-1 lead which he conveyed to a 6-3 2nd set victory.
The last set was the easiest one. At that time he was already rolling while Berankis looked quite defeated. He didn't offer much resistance and lost the set 6-2. All in all, it was a good match by Carenno-Busta who finds himself in the 4th round of the US Open.
Taylor Fritz maintained American hopes high for the majority of the match but ultimately failed. The American wasn't considered the favourite heading into this matchup but he disproved those claims early on. At the start, he controlled the match, making Shapovalov play a style that made him uncomfortable. The Canadian failed to adapt and Fritz took the 1st set 6-3.
Shapovalov responded in the 2nd jumping out to an early lead before converting it to a 6-3 2nd set victory. For a moment it looked like Denis had the upper hand as he took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd set. It didn't last long as Fritz went on a rampage, first tying the result and later also taking the lead. He would convert it to a 6-4 3rd set victory. Boosted by that comeback he came out furious in the 4th set taking a 3-0 lead. He wound maintain that lead until 5-3 when he lost his serve at the worst possible moment.
Shapovalov seized that opportunity and forced a tiebreak where he was the better player winning it 7-5. Fritz's confidence got crushed and he immediately lost his serve at the start of the final set. Shapovalov was careful not to lose that advantage and he didn't. He won the last set with 6-2 moving on to the next round.
