The first men's match today featured Krajinovic and Goffin and it was the Belgian who won in the end. David Goffin has been always solid in grand slams but he is yet to have that major breakthrough. So far his run at the US Open was decent and so was his performance today. The first set was a dream one for Goffin who smashed Krajinovic 6-1 in only 27 minutes.

It wouldn't be so easy for him in the 2nd set as he had to go to the tiebreak in order to win. The set lasted an hour and Goffin only managed to win it after tight 7-5 tiebreak win. The last set wasn't such a struggle but it wasn't easy as well. Goffin did jump out to an early 3-1 lead but Krajinovic mustered some strength to fight back to make it 4-4. It was at that moment that Goffin decided to take care of business and win the next two games to end the match.

Corentin Moutet entered the US Open with expectations of a decent run yet he didn't think he would make it this far. Today's performance was a superb one as he outlasted the feisty Dan Evans to reach the 4th round of the US Open. It was the Brit who stuck first winning the first set with 6-4 and it looked like he would cruise to an easy victory. The 2nd set was much better for Moutet who outplayed his rival to win it 6-3.

The next two sets were tightly contested affairs as both of them went the full distance and ended after tiebreaks. Both players played well enough of their own serve but in each of the tiebreaks, it was Moutet who fared better. In the first one, it was extremely close but he prevailed by making fewer mistakes. In the latter one, he completely smashed Evans 7-1 to reach the next round of the US Open.
