Alexander Zverev rallied from a set down to defeat Adrian Mannarino and advance to the fourth round of the US Open.

The German looked to be in trouble at the start of his third round match, but managed to turn things around and prevail with a 6-7(4) 6-4 6-2 6-2 victory. After an early break by Mannarino, Zverev managed to level the score at 4-4. A tiebreak ensued that saw the Frenchman's consistency give him the first set, with Zverev ruing his missed opportunities.
Nonetheless, the World No.7 maintained his aggressive strategy, dictating play with his devastating backhand. Although his serve threatened to let him down, Zverev was able to overcome 11 double faults by hitting 14 aces. He obtained the crucial break in the second set at 4-4, and leveled the match at a set apiece.
The fifth seed soon found his groove, as he began hitting winners from both wings. He accumulated 44 in total, twice that of his opponent. Mannarino was unable to counter his younger opponent, as Zverev ran away with the final two sets and clinched the match in two hours and 52 minutes.
Zverev will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the fourth round, as the Spaniard defeated Britain's Cameron Norrie 7-6(2) 4-6 6-2 6-1 earlier in the day.
