Daniil Medvedev will only win another Grand Slam title if Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner slip up admits John Lloyd as despite lauding him, he sees others ahead of him on the tennis totem pole.
Medvedev last lost in the Australian Open final and only has the US Open to his name despite being in six Grand Slam finals. Many of them he has held the lead in and not been able to finish off and having not won one in coming up to three years, a hoodoo could be present.
Albeit most of the time, he has simply come up against players in truly spectacular form as opposed to him not playing too well and has perhaps been unlucky not to claim more Grand Slam titles than he has thus far. But with the emergence of the new leading duo, it is hard to bet against them believes the ex-husband of Chris Evert.
"Yes he (Medvedev) does (go deep in most tournaments) and we've raved about, I have and certainly you have as well, Alcaraz and Sinner and we forget about Medvedev. You can't forget about him. I like watching him too. He's a strange-looking player," Lloyd said on the Tennis Channel Inside-In podcast.
"I like the different things he does in the game, and I love it when he stands far enough back where he could sit in the lap of someone in the stands, and he still gets the job done there."
"He's his own player, and it's like, he just goes about the way sort of quietly and no one really talks much about him. He's a hell of a player. If those guys have a slip probably in the Majors, then he'll win another one for sure."
