The crowd in Dubai saw another exceptional match when Novak Djokovic defeated Gael Monfils in the second semifinal match.

In the second semifinal match at the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, world number 1, Novak Djokovic, met a player that did not lose already 24 sets in a row before this match, Gael Monfils.
The Frenchman had a rocket start into the match. In the first set, he did not allow Djokovic to have a single breakpoint and he used 2 out of 6 that he had. That led Monfils to a 6-2 victory in 46 minutes.
Gael continued in a stunning display also in the second set when he broke Djokovic's service game to gain an early 3-1 lead. However, that was all until the 6th game when Djokovic got a break back. Since that moment, the Serbian started to improve his performance and after not converting 5 breakpoints, the set reached tie-break.
Monfils had 3 match points in a row in the tie-break when he was leading 6-3 but he did not convert any of those. On the other hand, Djokovic converted his 8th setpoint in to win the tie-break 10-8.
The Frenchman was visibly exhausted as he took long breaks between the points and he also requested a medical time out in the third set. But nothing of that helped as Djokovic dominated the third set. The Serbian has won 26 out of 35 rallies what led him to a 6-1 victory and a spot in the final against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
