Novak Djokovic overcame a slow start in the match against Edmund to win the match and reach the 3rd round of the US Open.

Novak Djokovic had to overcome a good start by Edmund in order to defeat him and reach the 3rd round of the US Open. He played solid in the 1st set but Edmund was better. It all came down to a tiebreak which the Brit won after serving an ace. It was a fitting end as the Brit served well through the 1st set saving all three break points he faced.
The 2nd set was when Djokovic started to become more serious. His level increased considerably and his opponent had simply no answer to his play or his returns. His service also gave out as he hit his 1st serve only 57 % of the time. That was trouble as he won less than half his 2nd service points. It was more than enough for Djokovic to win the set with 6-3.
The 3rd set was when Djokovic really got going. All the troubles Edmund had in the previous set got worse as he was helpless in rallies with Djokovic completely dominating. The Serbian jumped out to an early lead which he calmly converted into a 6-4 3rd set victory.
The 4th and final was just a formality for Novak who was playing better for the majority of the match. Edmund realized that his US Open campaign is coming to an end and midway through the set he simply gave up. Novak Djokovic finished up the match with a 6-2 final set victory. The end result was 6-7(5) 6-3 6-4 6-2 for Novak who continued his US open campaign and preserved his unbeaten run.
