A little over two hours was more than enough for Novak Djokovic to book a quarterfinal at Roland Garros over Diego Schwartzman 6-1 6-3 6-3.
It was a balanced effort from Djokovic who did not play extraordinarily well but he played well enough to win and that's what counts. Schwartzman opened the match well holding his serve after some early break points for the 1-0 lead and then had two break points to make it 2-0. He failed to convert and fell apart after that committing 18 unforced errors in only 7 games in the opening start.
He played much better in the 2nd set opening with 3-0 behind some strong winners and a more composed play. Djokovic upped his level on time to get back into the set breaking Diego for the 2-3 score. He then held his serve from 15-40 down to make it 3-3 and Diego once again fell apart. Djokovic completed the symbolic bagel by winning the next three games.
It was a 6-0 run from Djokovic who simply demonstrated that he has another level to go and he showed in when he needed to. Schwartzman tried but there is a cap to what he can do and Djokvic's simple could go a level higher. Once again it was the same story in the next set. Djokovic upped his game when he needed to and finished it off 6-3.
A good win for Djokovic who moves on to the French Open quarterfinal.
