Novak Djokovic has not won the
ATP Finals in six years but he is determined to change that this year as he feels ready to do it.
It's been a very long season for a lot of tennis players and the ATP Finals require a lot of effort and energy in order to win them. Novak Djokovic fully understands that and that is the reason he believes neither he nor Nadal or Federer won the event in the final six years. Speaking on that he said:
"It could be the amount of energy you spend during the season, you
maybe don't have enough in tank for that final push. Playing at the highest
level against the top eight players in the world every single match is
really high intensity... It could just be the case of a semi-full tank,
you're just not able to perform at your best every match, and that's
what it takes here."
Even so, Djokovic is eyeing the trophy especially after picking up form in Paris last week. The Serbian wants to win it and with some extra time off before Paris, he believes himself ready to do it. Speaking on his overall energy levels he noted that he did not play as much this year but he still had exhausting weeks:
"I haven't played so much as in previous years in terms of the amount
of tournaments but I did have a lot of exhausting events that I played,
particularly in grand slams. When I say exhausting I don't just mean physically but emotionally and mentally, probably unlike any other year that I've had."
He finished off with:
"It
did take a lot out of me and I just felt like I needed that break in
order to rejuvenate and try to get ready for a strong finish to the
season."
