Dominic Thiem
Dominic Thiem and Francisco Cerundolo battled once more and more it was the Austrian who proved better 6-1 1-6 7-5.
It was an interesting match, far more interesting than last week in Gijon where Thiem won in straight sets, Thiem won this time around as well but it was much tougher with a very interesting final score. Thiem came out superbly and smashed his opponent easier than he did last week in Gijon.
6-1 was the score as Cerundolo failed to find any solutions to Thiem who was sensational. The script completely flipped in the second set as Thiem became the player that struggled while Cerundolo was really strong.
The score was identical as Cerundolo won it 6-1 and we went into the final set. It was a good one overall but it featured Cerundolo wasting a golden chance. He was up a break at 4-3 but lost his serve to give Thiem a chance to turn it around.
The Austrian took it by finishing off the match 7-5 in the final set. Another quarter-final for Thiem who is looking better and better.
