Dominic Thiem to miss US Open and remainder of season

Dominic Thiem will not return to the courts in 2021 due to a wrist injury sustained in Mallorca.

In a shocking announcement that came via the Tennis TV Twitter page, it was made known that Dominic Thiem will not compete at the 2021 US Open. In fact, Thiem will not play tennis competitively at all this year due to the same wrist injury that has prevented him from playing since the Mallorca Championships.

It is not yet known what exactly happened but it seems that Thiem likely suffered a setback which prompted him and his team to take drastic actions. The season end is still 3 months away so the setback must have been a major one. We will have more as the situation unfolds.
