Jamie Murray is not happy with the Roland Garros organizers as he criticized the doubles hotel and the reduced prize money.
Roland Garros is due to begin on Sunday and player are slowly starting to arrive in Paris and one of them is Jamie Murray. The British player was not overly happy with the French Open organizers as he criticized the reduced prize money. Murray lashed out on his official Twitter page saying:
“On top of twice moving their event dates to suit themselves, The @FFTennis continues their ‘we don’t give a ****’ mentality by cutting the doubles prize fund by 23%. Thanks for actively supporting all players across the tour."
Reduced prize money is something that has become the new normal as events are played during the pandemic but Murray is clearly not happy with the reduced prize pool for doubles. Doubles players have criticized the obvious difference in prize pools for years and Murray is no different.
Murray was also not impressed with the hotel for doubles players as he described it as "absolute toilet". His full quote on that was:
"Ps. Your official hotel for doubles players is absolute toilet. Pps. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to bring one team member to support us during the event.Thumbs up"
It will be interesting to see whether other players will follow Muray in openly criticizing the event.
