Andy Murray was forced to abandon plans to play at the Roland Garros after feeling discomfort while playing in Rome choosing to focus on the grass swing instead.
It was not the 2021 Andy Murray hoped it would be after encouraging signs at the 2020 US Open. After heavy training for the Australian Open Murray tested positive barring him from entering the country. He played a few indoor events before heading to Rome to prepare for the Roland Garros.
It was there that he suffered another setback forcing him to abandon the Roland Garros and focus on the grass swing instead. His brother Jaime offered some insight into his situation:
"Obviously he keeps getting niggles and stuff that has set him back, for him he just needs to get a clear run of events, and that is what has been difficult for him for various reasons over the last few months."
Murray suffered a setback with a consistent groin injury that got irritated by the demanding movement of the clay courts. Despite that Murray is determined to play at Wimbledon which should be easier to handle for his body.
Brother Jamie believes he still got a lot left:
"His game is good, he just needs the chance to compete. Hopefully, with the grass season coming up he can get a good four or five weeks of tournaments under his belt and try to build up some momentum for himself."
What do you think? Can Murray become a top 30 player again. Let us know below.
