Grass and clay have not been kind to
Naomi Osaka in her career so far so what are chances at
Roland Garros and
WimbledonNaomi Osaka is preparing to take part in the Roland Garros with the Wimbledon not far away as well. They are events where she did not enjoy any success due to her unfamiliarity with the surfaces. To prepare for Roland she played in Madrid where she lost in R2 to Muchova. After the match, she expressed her disappointment by saying:
"I realised I was a bit sad because of my loss last week. I actually do trust myself sliding [on clay]. I think it's just the process of moving after the slide which is a bit difficult."
Days later she played in Rome where she got crushed by Jessica Pegula in straight sets. The American said after the match:
"It just takes time, and you just have to work on it. Of course, I think she can play well. Sharapova wasn't a clay-court player. She won the French twice."
Those were some encouraging words for Osaka who hasn't had a successful run at Wimbledon either. The last time she played there (2019), she lost in R1. The farthest she went was R3 and she actually asked Novak Djokovic for advice. She explained:
"It's a bit funny, I talked to Novak Djokovic about it, because I wanted to ask him how he moved so well on grass and he said that even though he falls a lot, he keeps getting up and he keeps trying different things. So I guess I'll try that the next time I'm on grass."
When asked if she would like to win all four Grand Slams Osaka responded by saying:
"Every kid growing up would want to win all four of those".
The desire is clearly there so what do you think. Can Naomi Osaka win the
