Ashleigh Barty is back in Paris to prepare ahead of the Roland Garros and the Australian did not hide her joy of returning to court Philippe-Chatrier.
It was in 2019 when Ashleigh Barty surprised the whole world by going on a tremendous run during 14 days in Paris ending up as the Roland Garros 2019 champion. It was a magical fortnight for Barty who spoke about it often since it happened. Now, two years after it happened she is finally back on the court that she will always remember.
Barty did not attend the event in 2020 electing not to defend her title and stay in Australia as the pandemic raged across the world. In her absence, a new champion was crowned and one Barty knows well. Iga Swiatek will defend her title and with her impressive display in Rome, she is one of the favourites.
The two played in Madrid with Barty getting the better of Swiatek in straight sets. Chris Evert singled them out as her main favourites heading into this year's French Open and we could possibly see that match in the latter stages of the event. When Barty arrived in Paris she received a care package from the event.
n the care package were: Vegemite and cheese Shapes, Vegemite, Milo, Cadbury Caramilk Marble chocolate and Merlo coffee. Barty posted a pic of that and said:
“When the ultimate care package is waiting for you in Paris."
She also did her first training session at the Court Philippe-Chatrier where she lifted the trophy two years ago.
