The draw for the ATP 500 Halle Open has been revealed, featuring a deluxe lineup led by defending champion and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and world No. 3 Alexander Zverev. The tournament, running from June 16 to 22, marks the return of major figures to grass courts, with Wimbledon just a couple of weeks away.
With no other Top-10 players in the field besides Sinner and Zverev, this presents a great opportunity to accumulate points – and wins – for those battling for better seeding at Wimbledon, including Daniil Medvedev (No. 11), Andrey Rublev (No. 14), Jakub Mensik (No. 17), and Francisco Cerundolo (No. 18).
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner arrives at his first grass-court tournament looking to put his Roland Garros final loss behind him, where he squandered three championship points. This is a favorable scenario for the Italian, with fewer top-form names in the draw, and on a surface that suits him better than clay. High expectations surround what he can achieve in this swing.
He boasts 11 wins and only two losses since returning to the courts after a three-month doping ban, with both defeats coming against Carlos Alcaraz. Since early 2024, only three other players have defeated Sinner besides the Spaniard (four times): Stefanos Tsitsipas (semifinals, Monte-Carlo Masters 2024), Andrey Rublev (quarterfinals, Canadian Open 2024), and Daniil Medvedev (semifinals, Wimbledon 2024). All three of these players are in the Halle draw.
Sinner leads the top half of the draw and debuts against a qualifier. He has a potential second-round rematch with Alexander Bublik, whom he defeated just a week ago at Roland Garros. However, the Kazakh must first overcome France's Alexandre Muller.

Zverev's grass charge; Medvedev and Rublev lurk
The bottom half is led by Alexander Zverev (No. 3), who quickly put his Roland Garros quarterfinal loss behind him and is preparing to contest the Stuttgart Open final this Sunday. The German had a great week returning to grass courts, which he could still crown with a title if he defeats Taylor Fritz. It remains to be seen if he will play his Halle debut against Marcos Giron or opt for a week of rest.
Medvedev (third seed) begins against German wildcard Daniel Altmaier and faces a potential quarterfinal clash against Stefanos Tsitsipas or Francisco Cerundolo, two names he will surely hope to avoid. His compatriot Andrey Rublev (4th seed) debuts against a qualifier and could potentially face Karen Khachanov or Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals.
The organizers surprised with a wildcard for the 18-year-old star Joao Fonseca, for his first ATP 500 grass-court tournament. The Brazilian has been a name to watch throughout the season and an opponent few would want to face. His first-round opponent will be Flavio Cobolli, while in the second round, he could face the winner between 2021 champion Ugo Humbert (6th seed) or Denis Shapovalov, two names that will surely also capture attention in the first round.
Czech Tomas Machac (7th seed) returns to the courts after retiring with an injury at the French Open. The young Macháč hasn't had much physical luck but remains in the Top 25 despite several injuries in the last year. He will debut against the always complicated Hubert Hurkacz (No. 29), a former Wimbledon semifinalist and champion of this tournament back in 2022.
