Draw Shanghai Masters 2024 headlined by Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic

The draw has been confirmed ahead of the 2024 Shanghai Masters, the next tournament on the agenda on the ATP Calendar taking place between 2-13 October, 2024.

Hubert Hurkacz was defending champion in Shanghai. But he will not play this time around due to injury as he copes with the remnants of his knee meniscus surgery. But the field is now led by Jannik Sinner who will face a qualifier or Taro Daniel in the second round. Sitting in his quarter are Pablo Carreno Busta, Botic van de Zandschulp and the seed being Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Novak Djokovic also makes his return for the first time in five years to Shanghai for perhaps the last time too. He has decided to play seemingly to get ready also for the Six Kings Slam with very minimal match time between now and the end of the season for the legendary Serbian.

But it is a tough opener as he faces rising American Alex Michelsen or Yunchaokete Bu who is currently in the Quarter-Finals of the China Open in Beijing this week. Albeit Taylor Fritz is the main seed if he gets through that who he has a great Head to Head record against.

Whilst when it comes to Carlos Alcaraz who is third seed. He takes on Juncheng Shang or Cameron Wong in the second round. Nicolas Jarry likely awaits the Spaniard. Second seed is Alexander Zverev but he too faces a tough assignment. Jordan Thompson is the other seed in his section and could face Zverev if he gets past Tallon Griekspoor or Facundo Diaz Acosta. Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas among others also headline the draw in Shanghai.

Another great week of ATP action awaits and the penultimate ATP 1000 tournament of the season is upon us in Shanghai, always an entertaining week and follows straight on from the China Open.
