Roger Federer breezed past Albert Ramos-Vinolas in his opener at the Shanghai Masters earlier on Tuesday winning 6-2, 7-6 in the end.
Federer to begin the tie broke twice in the opener and eased through his service games and despite it going all the way, he never faced a break point against the Spaniard.
His dominance showed with him winning 81 per cent of his net points and despite being 1-4 down in the tie-break, Federer came back to advance.
Ramos-Vinolas had cause to be optimistic going into the clash; with a previous win back in 2015 in Shanghai but this time around it wasn't to be as he bowed out.
Next up for the Swiss ace is David Goffin or Mikhail Kukushkin in the Quarter-Finals. Goffin defeated Richard Gasquet; while Kukushkin saw off Miomir Kecmanovic and they will face off for the right to take on the two time
Shanghai Masters champion.
