Although he just turned 40 last weekend, many still believe
Roger Federer has what it takes to win titles and most importantly, another Grand Slam trophy.
There has been much discussion over who is the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), with different fan groups supporting Federer, while others are behind his major rivals,
Rafael Nadal and
Novak Djokovic. However, former Canadian WTA star and current Quebec sports broadcaster Helene Pelletier is of the mindset that Federer deserves the moniker because he makes tennis look easy.
“I think that, for me, it (the greatest of all time) will always be Roger Federer," said Pelletier. "Because he makes tennis easy.
Federer is gracious. So he takes us somewhere else when we look at him. We've seen him play well a lot more often than play badly! I would say 95% of his games, it's a real pleasure to see him because he Roger Federer makes us dream."
Pelletier also gave her thoughts on Nadal, who has been Federer's main rival for over a decade. She praised the Spaniard's generous nature, stating that Nadal would always be a man of the people.
"Suppose you have a disaster, it's Nadal you send," added Pelletier. "It’s Nadal you want as prime minister because he’s going to take care of it, that’s going to be fair.
He's going to put on his rubber boots and he's going to go remove the mud like he did on Mallorca when there was flooding in 2018. He was with the people, he worked with them, and he did not say ready-made little marketing phrases. It’s a real one."
