America’s
Frances Tiafoe believes that tennis remains the
most difficult sport in the world. The 26-year-old is set to take part in the
Mexican Open where he will play his first match on Tuesday against Australia’s Max
Purcell.
Tiafoe recently appeared in a video on the social media platform Instagram where he stated that tennis
remains the most difficult sport in the world as there is no time limit.
"It's the hardest sport in the world,” he said. “I
still think it's the hardest sport in the world. Well A, the ball in comparison
to other sports is very small. Your hand-eye [coordination] has to got to be
very good.
"Then there's no clock. You know, it's not a timed
sport. When those guys come to watch me, they're like, 'How long is a tennis
match?' I'm like: 'Sh*t I don’t know, you never know. And then you know it's the uncontrollable movements,
up and down, side to side. So it's tough and it's just you.”
The current world number 16 will be hoping to continue his good
recent form. In his most recent outing in Florida at the Delray Beach Open, the
Maryland-born was eventually knocked out after losing in the semifinal to
fellow American Tommy Paul in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
