Taylor Fritz will improve to a new career-high ranking this week regardless of his Dallas Open result becoming the highest-ranked American since 2011.
Taylor Fritz is playing really strong tennis at the moment and he's cruising at the Dallas Open. There is a pretty decent chance that he might win the event but regardless of the result, Fritz will rise from number 8 to number 7 on the rankings. He'll become the highest-ranked American on the ATP rankings in a decade with that.
The last time someone from the US was ranked 7th was in 2011 when Mardy Fish did it. Since then, no American was matched that ranking until now. Fritz has been the top name in US tennis for a while now thanks to a major breakthrough last year when he won a few trophies. He's determined to take it further:
“I just need to keep working on the things I need to work on to get better, that got me to this point. I always expect a lot of myself and put a lot of pressure on myself, but I just need to keep working and keep improving, and hopefully the results will come.”
