Novak
Djokovic filled with praise for
Goran Ivanisevic after ending their
collaboration. The world No. 1 won 9 of his 24 Grand Slams alongside the
Croatian in the last five years, and the exact reasons for the split are still
unknown.
Nole didn't
have a great start to the year, at least by his own standards. He exited in the
semifinals of the Australian Open against Jannik Sinner and fell in the third
round of Indian Wells to Luca Nardi. Days later, he announced his withdrawal
from the Miami Open for personal reasons.
Djokovic
recently commented to the Croatian portal Slobodna Dalmacija that despite his
separation from Ivanisevic, the former tennis player is part of his closest
circle: "I can't make any comments now, I'm sorry that I won't give you
what you're looking for, but thank you for coming. You are welcome to stay
here, but Goran and I have ended our cooperation. You saw the (social
media) post, so..."
"Goran
is a member of the family, a friend forever and it will remain like that.
Professionally, we simply parted ways, having achieved a historic result - the
most trophy-winning player and coach ever, so I think in that sense, it's all
been said," Djokovic told Slobdna Dalmacija.
