Tennis reporter David Avakian is unsure what
Alexander Zverev wants to achieve on a tennis court as he doesn't really see a method in the way he plays tennis right now.
Alexander Zverev hasn't looked like himself since making his return from the ankle injury that he suffered pretty much a year ago. It's been a tough journey back and he's yet to find his best tennis since then though it's looked better recently compared to the start of the year. According to Avakian, there doesn't seem to be clarity in the way Zverev wants to play right now:
“Sometimes I think, ‘Ya, this is the old level’, and suddenly it is nowhere to be found. Is it the way he is playing? I always feel like he chooses to play a bit defensively – more than you would expect from someone his size and with his weapons."
He added:
“Maybe it’s that he hasn’t quite figured out how he wants to play. And I guess if you are doubting whether you are at your highest level, that’s even more the case. Every match is different. I think, he is just not sure as to what he wants.”
