Dominic Thiem threw away a 2-0 lead against Pablo Andujar and Mats Wilander could not quite believe it.
It was a sensational comeback win for Pablo Andujar in the first round of the Roland Garros. He was down 2 sets to love against 2x finalists Thiem but came back to win. Eurosport tennis analyst Mats Wilander was asked what he thought about the match and he said:
“Yes, this was a big surprise. I actually predicted him to get all the way to the finals. I thought that he would be nicely rested. Of course, we know that he has been having a few problems with his tennis."
Wilander continued by saying:
“But Nicely rested and he supposedly trained really hard, and then he was up two sets to love, so that’s even weirder. When you see the whole match he looks a little bit tired. He is not as motivated as before."
Thiem himself was very disappointed after the match and looked quite deflated at the post-match press conference. He did say he would be back stronger and Wilander believes him. Mats said:
“I’m sure he is going to be back, but it does feel like he might need to take a little bit of a break at this moment.”
