Close friend of Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic,
Viktor Troicki, has revealed that he is prioritising Paris Olympics ahead of
the
French Open. The 36-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in the
history of men’s tennis in the Open era, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam.
Djokovic is currently taking part at the Roland Garros where
he booked his place in the second round of the mega-evet after beating Pierre-Hugues
Herbert with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. Ahead of the second-round clash against
Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena, close friend of Djokovic Troicki was quoted in
a report where he stated that the reigning world number one is prioritsing Olympics
over French Open.
"He is not currently the Nole we are used to,” he said.
"But in Paris, at the Grand Slam, everything can turn around. In the last
five years, his focus has been on the Grand Slams. I think the Olympics are his
priority this year, but again he wants to show that he cares about playing well
at the Slams. I hope that he will repeat the history of previous years when he
came in shy and without self-confidence, which he gained through matches, built
his form and eventually won tournaments. We didn't even expect him to win the
Garros last year but he did."
