Andy Roddick found
Novak Djokovic's display at the 2024
Australian Open 'weird' as he said it was bizarre that the Serbian was seemingly trying to find energy from somewhere when it came to his match against Jannik Sinner.
Especially given his incredible run in Melbourne over the years which has seen him win 10 Australian Open titles and had a run spanning from 2018-2024 without being defeated and Roddick said that it was the first time that he saw Djokovic scrambling for something else for the first time in a long time after usually being up to the task.
The previous year in particular saw Djokovic return after a year away after the COVID deportation saga and prove a point and that wasn't there for the World No.1 which also saw a changing of the guard heavily mooted.
"Time is undefeated, right? And he (Djokovic) has fought it off as well as anyone. From where I sat, it was weird seeing him try to generate energy for a semifinal, especially at his favorite place, Australia. And I felt like for those first two sets, he was trying to find motivation and energy," said Roddick on 'Served with Andy Roddick' podcast.
"The match against Sinner was the first time in a long time I saw him kind of searching for an energy source or motivation source on top of a match-up that has very quickly become a difficult one for him."
